If you are one of those, who is bored of the regular coconut chutney day-in-day-out, then this chutney will be a life saver. It is a good mix of onion, tomato and coconut sauteed with spices and ground to perfection. This goes very well with Idli, Dosa and also as a side to Curd Rice. I have seen people mix this chutney directly with plain rice and have them(something like a pachadi), so it kinda works that way too!!
Ingredients:
1)Onion - 1(chopped)
2)Tomato - 2(chopped)
3)Green Chillies - 3(slit)
4)Grated Coconut - 4 tsp
5)Garlic - 3 pods(crushed)
6)Oil - 1 tsp
7)Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
8)Whole Red Chilli - 1
9)Urad Dal - 1 tsp
10)Asafetida - a pinch
11)Turmeric Powder - a pinch
12)Salt - to taste
13)Coriander leaves - 5 sprigs
Preparation:
1)Heat oil in a pan and add asafetida, cumin seeds, whole red chilli and urad dal. Let it splutter.
2)Add garlic and slit green chilli, saute for couple of seconds.
3)Add onion and salt, saute until they turn translucent.
4)Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder and saute for 4 minutes.
5)Add coriander leaves and saute for couple of seconds.
6)Add grated coconut and saute for couple of seconds.
7)Switch off the stove and let the content cool for 3 to 4 minutes.
8)Grind the entire content in a mixer, until you get the mushy consistency.

Hey thanks Dhanish!
DeleteAnd welcome back!
Nothing like a tangy spicy chutney to jazz up a meal. The combination of ingredients is fantasic. And I love the little green sticking out of the chutney. Also, appears that you are a much sought after techie genius:-) Well done! Maybe you should do a post on tips & advice on some basic widgets etc for all.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sonali!! The chutney kinda looked plain, hence stuck a curry leaf onto it, HaHa!!
DeleteI'm not a techie genius, just happened to be a techie, that is all!!
Ohh that is a good idea, will do a post on basic widget of Blogger some day!! But if you are interested in furthering your blog, then you can jump in on the social media bandwagon and start using Google plus!! Here is a post of mine that would give a glimpse of G+.
