Meal-Maker(Soya) comes in different varieties and shapes - like chunks, granules, flakes, nuggets, grains, and strips. They are full of Protein and rich in Fiber. Hence, it is an ultimate ingredient to any type of cooking.
Somehow, I do not like to use big chunks of Soya, hence I opted for granules. So here is a simple Pulao made of Soya Granules and Potatoes.
Ingredients:
1)Long Grain Rice - 1 cup
2)Soya Granules - 1/2 cup
3)Potato - 1(medium, chopped)
4)Green Chilli - 1(chopped)
5)Onion - 1(medium, cut lengthwise)
6)Ginger Garlic Paste - 1/2 tsp
7)Red Chilli Powder - 3/4 tsp
8)Garam Masala Powder - 1/4 tsp
9)Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
10)Cardamon , Cinnamon, Cloves, Javitri(Mace) - a few
11)Salt - as per taste
12)Oil - 1/2 tsp and Ghee - 1/2 tsp
Preparation:
1)Soak rice for 30 minutes and cook the rice along with whole Cardamon, Cinnamon, Cloves, Javitri(Mace), salt and water. (If you have Saffron at home, then add saffron strands to luke warm milk and add the mixture to the rice before cooking). Make sure the cooked rice is grainy.
2)Soak soya granules in 1 cup of water with a little salt for 10 minutes. The 1/2 cup granules should become 1 cup after soaking. Filter out the granules from water and keep aside.
3)Heat oil and ghee in a pan and add cumin seeds, chopped green chilli, onion and salt. Saute until onion turns translucent.
4)Add ginger garlic paste and saute further.
5)Add chopped potatoes and saute well. The potatoes should cook for 3 to 4 minutes. (You can add 1/2 tsp of oil here, if required). It should turn crispy in the corners.
6)Now add the granules and mix well.
7)Add red chilli powder, garam masala powder and mix well. Saute for couple of minutes.
8)Now add the cooked rice with the whole spices and mix well, saute for couple of minutes.
9)Garnish the Pulao with fried onions on the top. Sauteed cashews can also be used.
Your Pulao is ready!

ReplyDeleteYes Dhanish!
DeleteVery healthy, indeed.
I have always been using the chunks and the granules are new to me. Have to check at the supermarket to see if I can get some. I think by now you would have known how much we adore rice and cannot be without it. Therefore with the combo of ingredients, that specifically the ghee, I can imagine the aroma and the popped up flavors. This is a one pot meal, another welcomes besides fried rice.
ReplyDeleteThe good thing about granules is that, i find it more flavorsome and not solid, like chunks. It kinda blends with the rice well when compared to chunks.
DeleteYep, one pot meal are the life savers.
Cannot live without rice for sure, feeling is mutual :-)
