Go Eggy!!

Okie, what is with the baby popping out of the egg shell?? I have no freaking idea ;-)

Jokes apart, I'm going to be talking about the benefits of eating an egg per day.

Have you guys ever felt hungry after 2 hours of having a bowl of cereal or 2 slices of toast in the morning?
But at the same time, if you have an egg along with the toast, you may feel full & good, isn't it? The reasons are stated below, read on..
  • A single egg consists of 6 to 7 grams of protein. Not just any protein, it is high-quality protein & that is  the reason you feel fuller for longer period of time when you consume them.
  • The best time to have egg is during breakfast or lunch.
  • Study says, consuming eggs regularly may prevent breast cancer. Women who consumed at least 6 eggs per week lowered the risk of breast cancer by 44%.
  • If you are looking to loose weight, the right thing to do is to have one egg every day with your breakfast. Trust me, it works like a charm. If you are worried about the fat content in egg yolk, do not fret - the fat content is only 5 grams. Hence it is no big deal if you are looking to reduce a little weight or just want to maintain the existing weight. Having said that, if you have to reduce a whole lot of weight then have 2 egg whites instead of one whole egg.
  • Egg also contains omega-3 fatty acids, which is required for increasing the level of HDL (good) cholesterol.
  • People who eat egg every day lower the risk of developing cataract or any form of blindness because of lutein and zeaxanthin contents in eggs
  • Eggs promote healthy hair and nails because of the high levels of sulphur & vitamin B12 content.
  • Regular consumption of eggs may prevent blood clots, stroke, and heart ailments.
  • Do you guys know the fact that we Indians lack Vitamin D even though we are in the hottest part of the subcontinent(Sun is the best source of vitamin D). Eggs are one of the only foods that contain naturally occurring vitamin D other than sun. So have some.
  • Eggs are packed with minerals like iron, calcium, zinc and phosphorus. Women need plenty of iron due to menstruation and not getting enough could leave you feeling tired and grouchy. Zinc keeps your immune system in top form. Phosphorus & calcium are required for healthy bones and teeth.
  • Also eggs are a good source of choline. It is an important nutrient that helps regulate brain, nervous system and cardiovascular system.
Now, the boosting!
  • It ain't a joke when they say - "Sunday ho ya Monday, Roz khao Ande"
Now, the warning!
  • One egg has nearly '200 plus' mg of cholesterol. So, the once who has to keep a check on cholesterol should watch out before having whole egg. You guys can go for an omelette with 2 egg whites along with some veggies like mushroom, capsicum, onion & spinach. It is a healthy & a satiating combination.
  • Do not over eat. Limit your egg consumption to one per day.
Go eggy!! :-)

Have we lost our brain power to technology?

How many times a day do we use some form of technology in life? Pretty much every minute: be it the usage of smart phones, laptops, tablets, phablets,...etc. We got so much used to it that sometimes we do not see the answer to a simple problem lying right in front of us. As much as I love technology and anything to do with it, I do believe in the fact that - " Technology made us all lazy, to an extent ". To get back to our humanness, we have to use only those entities which are necessary and let go off the rest. If that is not possible, then take a " technology break " once a month - see how beautiful the day turns out to be! I did one complete day, and I was so peaceful, Zen like! If somebody asks me to tell them the current-local-time , although I wear my watch all the time, I go straight to my phone, it is not that I cannot read time, it is just that my phone displays it for me. What can I say? Laziness personified! I'm sure many of you would have come across...
